Learn to be a leader

Leaders aren’t just the politicians and activists we read about in headlines.  Every day, you can find lots of opportunities to take the lead in our own lives and communities.

Check out the University of Calgary Leadership (UCL) program to learn more about leadership.

With UCL sessions, you can increase your presentation and facilitation skills, work on team building,  group development, conflict resolution, and much more.   You can learn how to master the interview; whether for a job, graduate or professional schools.  You can also learn about what fork to use at a business lunch.

UCL offers three tiers/certificate programs:

  • PERSONAL LEADERSHIP
  • TEAM LEADERSHIP
  • COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

There are six sessions in particular that are recommended for students about to graduate:

  • Defining Leadership (Personal Tier)
  • Facilitating Change (Team Tier)
  • Conflict Resolution (Team Tier)
  • Learning Through Diversity (Community Tier)
  • Becoming a Global Citizen (Community Tier)
  • You Are How You Eat: Professional Development and the Culture of Food (a one time session to talk about etiquette over a meal)
